About

Vivien, or ‘V’ for short, is an artist, illustrator and land worker with a BA in Illustration from Falmouth University.

My fascination with plants and biology has driven me to find multiple ways to work closely with nature. Immersing myself within the world of plants, bugs and natural processes through my work as a gardener and vegetable grower is a constant and ever-changing and source of creative inspiration.

Combining hand-drawn and digital processes, my scientific illustrations translate complex forms into detailed and tangible images. I take great care to ensure each illustration is scientifically  accurate (if required) and yet still retain natural, organic qualities. Whilst illustrating, it is my aim to capture and highlight the beauty found in even the smallest of organisms. See examples of my illustration work here.

Alongside illustrating and farming, I have been working on an ongoing project titled Plant and Pigment. This work involves exploring British landscapes through gently gathering wild plants and pigments, and producing natural inks and watercolours from these found and foraged materials.
